Kindred T. and N., Now your letter of 17-OCT with clippings of Russ-Am. newspapers has arrived to us. Thank you for the greeting and for the articles in which so much is said about vastness. Soon will be time when all cultural workers will have to focus on other vastness. This is why it is important to fill up with vast and kind thoughts. Around 10th of Oct. many valuable signs for us signs have gathered. In different countries, by different among themselves unknown authors, my Russianness has been emphasized. Not a simple coincidence but an affirmation occured, pouring from various well-wishing hearts. Moskoff, Tretiakoff, Sergey Gorny, Bulgakov, Dutzman, Tandan, Tampi, Mehta, Sheno, Muller, Vias and many others from different countries almost conspired to emphasized that, what is closest to my heart. Also you probably already have the book of Vsevolod Ivanov, which will enter into the future monograph--it is already being set. Wonderful and marvelous when outside of the normal paths of reporting the people pronounce almost identically their observations. Right now Hiriakoff from Warsaw writes about the same topic, meaning that the hour is coming. And some of these writers could have blurred in their diagnoses, with many superficial circumstances. But the truth overcomes everything and this way the main strength of my drive is noticed and emphasized. It was touching to see how the friends answered and through this new friends were discovered, well-wishers unheard of earlier. Maybe you have already heard, that the R. Museum in Prague is dedicating a separate hall to my art, and in Paris there are new kind collaborations with Fren. poets and new friends. The Baltic congress is an act of wonderful self-activity of our Baltic societies. They have conceived, raised, and hosted the Congress themselves and they have assembled a beneficial achievement. Self-activity of the Latvians and Lithuanians is not only touching but simply stunning. Imagine how the most various people, majority of whom are not Russian and are heterodox, are asserting Russian creativity. It is worth to ponder this and understand how wide are the outlooks of these cultured agents. And it is not easy for them, they are all laboring people and intellectual labor as you and I know is paid very poorly. Nonetheless the self-activity, direction to spiritual perfection and cultural work conquer all obstacles. We are glad to hear, that your work is advancing and developing despite the worldly hardships. We can imagine how selflessly N. works in the print shop and how many obstructing grains of sand turn up on the wheels. In this time you have likely already seen S. G. L. and know about all the hideous turns of the court proceedings. I truly marvel when reading the letters from America about the corruption of referees and about all the dreary combinations shown by the criminal apostates. They have fallen into such an abyss of lies and criminality, that some of our correspondents using a fashionable word call them Trotskists. I will not describe from here to you all of the criminal digs,--on the spot you will learn about them in more detail with all of the local hues. Even now in the Russian colony there are resounding voices, that "H. is destroying the Roerich's Russian affair." Not that is not all, there are talks about some conspiracy against the cultural affair. Indeed everything seems to be a conspiracy for only conspirators visit each other in a masked appearance using the back doors. And these more than strange visits are fixated by witness accounts. When you see S. G. L. you will find out many curiously-regrettable details. It is time for the Russian people to understand what is happening and to unite if only in the name of culture. Otherwise in the same spot when the banner of guardianship of cultural valuables was raised there is a threat of unheard vandalism. There is no reason to think of some distant vandals, when here in proximity there are examples of criminality and vandalism. It is strange to align the activity that flows in Europe and India with that which is happening in New York. It is sufficient to say, that H's lawyer is the adopted son of the referee. Where to go further and by the legislation of other countries one of such circumstances would have been enough of a reason for a diversion. We are all as always in an intensive labor. In the duration of last summer in England, New York and the Far East there flashed another report of my death/ already a fourth one/, but as you can see this is greatly exaggerated, as Mark Twain has said. Indeed "to listen to all of the people's talk, I would have to throw the donkey on my shoulders". The program of your future lectures has not yet reached us and we will be very glad to be acquainted with it. E. I. despite her illness is permanently writing and laboring. Yury is achieving a monumental history of Middle Asia, and Svyatoslav has painted a whole row of wonderful paintings and portraits. We will be inspired once more by the good examples of the our Guardian St. Sergius.

Ведь скоро время когда всем культурным работникам придется сосредоточиться и на других просторах. Потому так важно сейчас преисполниться просторными и добрыми мыслями. Около 10-го окт. собралось много ценных для нас знаков. В разных странах, разными между собою незнакомыми авторами, единообразно была подчеркнута моя русскость. Получилось уже не простое совпадение а утверждение, вылившееся из различных доброжелательных сердец. Москов, Третьяков, Сергей Горный, Булгаков, Дуцман, Тандан, Тампи, Мехта, Шено, Мюллер, Виас и многие другие точно бы сговорились из разных стран мира подчеркнуть то, что ближе всего моему сердцу. Также Вы вероятно уже имеете и книгу Всеволода Иванова, которая войдет и в будущую монографию- она уже в наборе. Чудно и дивно когда вне обычных путей сообщения люди произносят почти одинаково свои наблюдения. Сейчас еще Хирьяков из Варшавы пишет о том же, значит приходит час. А ведь некоторые из этих авторов могли-бы затемниться в своих диагнозах, разными наносными обстоятельствами. Но правда осиливает все и таким образом основная сила моих устремлений усмотрена и подчеркнута. Трогательно было как повсеместно друзья отозвались и при этом обнаружились еще новые друзья доброжелатели доселе нами не слыханные. Вы может быть уже слышали, что Р. Музеи в Праге посвящает моему искусству отдельный зал, а в Париже произошли новые добрые сотрудничества с франц. поэтами и новыми друзьями. Балтийский конгресс является актом замечательной самодеятельности наших балтийских обществ. Сами задумали, сами подняли, сами провели Конгресс и сложили новое полезное достижение. Самодеятельность латвийцев и литовцев не только трогательна но прямо потрясающа. Представьте себе как самые различные люди, большинство из которых не русские и инославные, утверждают русское творчество. Над этим стоит задуматься и понять как широки взгляды этих культурных деятелей. А ведь всем им не легко, все они люди трудящиеся а интеллентный труд как мы с Вами сами знаем оплачиваем совсем плохо. И тем не менее самодеятельность, устремление и духовному усовершенствованию и культурная работа превозмогают все препоны. Мы рады слышать, что и Ваша работа несмотря на все житейские трудности протекает и развивается. Представляем себе как самоотверженно Н. работает в типографии и сколько при этом затруднительных песчинок оказывается в колесах. Вероятно за это время Вы уже повидали З. Г. Л. и знаете о всех безобразных оборотах судоговорении. Поистине диву даешься читая в письмах из Америки о подкупности рефери и о всех мрачных комбинациях которые выявляют преступные апостаты. Они впали в такую бездну лжи и преступности, что некоторые наши корреспонденты употребляя модное слово называют их троцкистами. Не буду описывать Вам отсюда все преступные подкопы,- на месте Вы узнаете их подробнее со всеми местными окрасками. Теперь и в русской колонии раздаются голоса, что “Х. разрушают русское дело Рериха.” Но это еще не все, существуют и толки о каком-то заговоре против культурного дело. Действительно все похоже на заговор ибо лишь заговорщики посещают друг друга в замаскированном виде через черный вход. А такие более чем странные посещения зафиксированы свидетельскими показаниями. Когда повидаете З. Г. Л. то узнаете много любопытно-прискорбных подробностей. Пора-бы русским людям понять в чем дело и сплотится хотя бы во имя культуры. Иначе на том самом месте где воздвигалось знамя охранения культурных ценностей угрожает неслыханный вандализм. Не зачем мыслить o каких-то дальних вандалах, когда тут же поблизости проявляется пример и преступности и вандализма. Странно сопоставить деятельность протекающую в Европе и в Индии с тем что сейчас происходит в Нью-Иорке. Достаточно сказать, что адвокат Х. является приемным сыном рефери. Куда же дальше итти и по законодательству иных стран одно такое обстоятельство уже было бы достаточным поводом к отводу. Все мы как всегда в самой напряженной работе. В течении прошлого лета в Англии, в Нью-Иорке и на Дал. Вост. мелькнуло очередное сведение о моей смерти /теперь уже четвертое/, но как видите сие сильно преувеличено, как говорил Марк Твейн.
