It is situated 20 km south-east of the city center, on the edge of to the archipelago of Stockholm comprising some 24.000 islands stretching out in the Baltic Sea. June is normally the very best time to visit Scandinavia. It is statistically the driest month. The weekend following the symposium, Midsummer, is a big holiday in Sweden when many old traditions are excersiced. If you have been thinking about a Scandinavian vacation, you should take the opportunity to stay on after the symposium. The optical telegraph The symbol of the conference is an optical telegraph. Although similar devices had been used earlier, this enhanced version was designed by the Swedish chancery secretary Abraham Niclas Qewberg-Edelcrants in the early 1790ies. can be seen in Furusund, in the northern part of the archipelago. It was built 1836 and in regular use until 1872. A telegram could be sent optically in 7 minutes from Stockholm to Furusund. A picture of this telegraph was used to produce the logotype of the symposium. The picture below shows the optical U telegraph at Telegrafholmen, a small ^ island next to Sandhamn, a pilot and customs community on the outmost inhabited island in the archipelago. t rOETLS K KAT.ETCDER l In 1795-96 a network of optical telegraphs was built connecting Stockholm and Eckero on Aland. The stations were at the most 14 km apart. This connection was of great importance in the war 1808-1809, in which Sweden lost Finland to Russia. The transmitter consists of ten flaps, 9 August Strindberg, the famous Swedish author who spent many summers in the archipelago, was a telegraph operator here a short period in 1863. The picture decorated the cover of a booklet of poems written by the poet Elias Sehlstedt, customs inspector in Sandhamn. PSTV Xl-91 * * * * CALL FOR PAPERS * * * * Special Issue of \"\"Computer Networks and ISDN Systems\"\" on: \"\"TOOLS FOR FDTs\"\". Original papers are solicited for a special issue of \"\"Computer Networks and ISDN Systems\"\" on \"\"Tools for FDTs\"\" supporting protocol engineering and/or communication systems design. The aim of the special issue is to present the state of the art in tools for the formal design of communication systems. Contributions on tools for standardized FDTs, which therefore have a widespread usage, are specially encouraged, i.e., Estelle, LOTOS and SDL. Tools themselves, as well as tool usage and comparative studies are considered of interest for the issue. Contributions should support FDT-based design and be centered principally on the following topics: Tools to support specification analysis and design Editors, interpreters, simulators, debuggers, .. Tool support for FDT-based testing Test suite generators, test administration, .. Tools to support verification and validation. Tools to support performance analysis based on FDTs, Tools to support protocol implementation. Compilers, translators, .. Transformational tools for FDT-based design. Contributions should be sent to the guest editor. Please send 7 copies of the full paper. Papers should have a maximum of 30 pages, double spaced. The final maximum size of papers may be adjusted after acceptance. Papers should be received before the 1st of April, 1991. Contest-TTCN- An Interactive TTCN Editing Facility Contest-TTCN tool will be distributed to the interested parties only for the purposes of research and/ or teaching. Please send a Sun 3 cassette and an official letter indicating one or two of the purposes of use duly signed by the official(s) to my address given below. Contest-TTCN is an interactive tool for editing/ entering test suites in TTCN. It runs in Sun3 and Sun4 platforms and uses SunView window environment. Almost all the TTCN tables are supported including ASN.1 related ones. The IS version is supported with the exception of Addendum items. The tool includes test suite importing/ exporting facilities. Some example test suites will be included in the distribution. One of the aims is to encourage test suite exchange among different research sites, and thus contribute to the development of OSI test suites. Contest-TTCN has originally been developed by S. Eswara as part of his MSc. thesis research. It has recently been modified by S. Poursabahian, both of Concordia University. The package will include some documentation, but not an extensive one since the editor is completely interactive and very easy to use with the mouse on Sun stations. If you have a color station, the color is also utilized. The package will contain only binaries, source code could be obtained with special arrangements, i.e. the interested parties should commit to a contribution, such as X-window support to be shared by the research community. Coming up next are the computer-aided test suite generation tools. Correspondence address: Behcet Sarikaya University of Montreal Dept. I.R.O. I.R.O. PSTV Xl-91",

"transcription": "Following is an offer for a TTCN tool from Behcet Sarikaya of the University of Montreal. I.R.O.
