Bee was born in Xieng Khouang, Laos. His father died during the “Secret War” in Laos. Bee immigrated to the US in 1987 with his wife and children. He first settled in Wisconsin and later moved to Minnesota. He is currently the director of the Volunteers of America Park Elder Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Daisy's mother was born in Puebla, Mexico. All of her siblings including Daisy were born in the U.S. When she created her digital story, she was a senior studying Political Science at the University of Minnesota and graduated in December 2014.

Ketmanee was born in Bangkok, Thailand, but was raised in the village of Ban Nong Phai. When she was four years old, her family moved to America and she grew up in Frazee, Minnesota. She came to the United States get a good education and have better opportunities. She is currently a student at the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities.

Kim's father, Thong Tran, was born in Bien Hoa, Vietnam. He fought in the American war in Vietnam and came to the United States in 1985. Kim is married to a man from Nicaragua and has two children. She tries to preserve and maintain her Vietnamese culture through the Vietnamese cuisine she cooks for her family.

Lue was born in 1945 in Xiangnan, Zieng Khouang, Laos. He fought against the communists in the "Secret War" in Laos. When the communists took over the country, he left and came to the United States in 1979.

Manichan was born in Muang Cha, Laos. She is the daughter of Zam Va Yang and the wife of Colonel Shong Leng Xiong. She is a survivor of the Secret War in Laos. Her family helped American soldiers during the war, and she lost her grandfather after helping an American pilot. Manichan arrived in U.S. in 1993.
