The image depicts the Seamen's House YMCA building, which was dedicated to serving sailors. The building, located at 550 West 20th Street in Manhattan, was in existence from 1931 to 1967.

Accompanying pieces include the Holak collection leg drops, accession # MSSCH104 and MSSCH103. They each depict a distinctly different color palette, suggesting that this is a duplicate piece. There is a preliminary pencil sketch with almost an identical composition in the Twin City Scenic Company collection, accession # MSSC0353.
