In 1894, William Guile Northrup (1851-1929), president of North Star Woolen Mills from 1898-1929, commissioned architect William Channing Whitney to design and build a home on the shore of Lake Minnetonka in Wayzata. The home, a Greek revival that featured Corinthian columns, garden, swimming pool, boathouse, and fountain, was named "BonSyde.Ó
