The note on the back of the photograph reads: "Typical old-time volunteer co-op share canvasser, and literature and newspaper subsciption salesman ("tupa-agitaattari"). Sam Williams, of Superior, Wisconsin (later of Kettle River, Minnesota) pounding the country roads on a propaganda trip." Williams has the letter "S" stitched on his shirt.
