Measure. Cylindrical pewter cup, tapered toward the base, with large v-shaped spout; spurred, D-shaped handle; raised graduated markings in interior of measure up to 16 ounces; maker's mark of a figure holding a handscale stamped on bottom. Includes manufacturer markings:"C G."

Morrow County. Banded Columbia River. Columnar basalt, 1/2 mile above Little Butter Creek crossing of Oregon Highway 74. The color bands may be due to annual cooling zones. The narrow yellow bands are water-deposited surface silt. Penny as scale. Elevation is 3300 feet.
