Alfonso Tinoco was born in 1999 in Uriangato, Mexico. In 2012 he moved to the United States with his mother and father. After a short time in Missouri, the family moved to Ohio. Though he spent his first two years in ESL courses, Alfonso moved into AP English in his third year.
