Headworks of the Upper Chenab Canal are near Sialkot, in what is now Sialkot District, Punjab, Pakistan. Canal runs south to southeast of Lahore. The Chenab Canal system was built at the end of the 19th century.

Opened in 1915, the Upper Jhelum Canal takes off from the river Jhelum at Mangla, in what is now Jhelum District of Punjab, Pakistan. Through 13 distributaries, it irrigates much of Gujrat District of Punjab, Pakistan before flowing into the river Chenab.
