Morrow County. Banded Columbia River. Columnar basalt, 1/2 mile above Little Butter Creek crossing of Oregon Highway 74. The color bands may be due to annual cooling zones. The narrow yellow bands are water-deposited surface silt. Penny as scale. Elevation is 3300 feet.
