We recently developed a thin film model thatdescribes the rupture and dewetting of very thinliquid polymer films where slip at the liquid/solidinterface is very large. In this talk, we investigatethe singularity formation at the moment of rupturefor this model, where we identify different similarityregimes.

I'll describe a framework for studying what happens when one imposes various structural conditions on clustering schemes and tries to identify all methods that comply with such conditions. Within this framework, it is possible to prove a theorem analogous to one of J. Kleinberg, in which one obtains existence and uniqueness instead of a non-exis...

A combinatorial idea of Gromov is to assign to each metric space X thecollection of all distance matrices corresponding to all possible n-tuples ofpoints in X. Given a filtration the functor F on finitemetric spaces we consider the set of all possible F-persistence diagrams generated by metric subsets of X of cardinality n. For a class of filtra...

The Gromov-Hausdorff (GH) distance provides a flexible notion of dissimilarity between datasets. It is known that computing the GH distance between finite metric spaces leads to NP-Hard computational problems. This is true even for finite ultrametric spaces, which are highly structured metric spaces satisfying the so-called 'strong' triangle ine...

The Gromov-Hausdorff distance provides a powerful tool for formalizingthe problem of shape matching. Two problems with it are that (1) inpractice it leads to combinatorial optimization problems which are NPhard and (2) despite its theoretical attractiveness and naturality,it has been difficult to use for studying and establishing links tothe man...

In soft, coarse-grained models for dense polymer liquids, harshrepulsive interactions (excluded volume) between segments arereplaced by soft repulsive interactions, which are sufficient to suppressdensity fluctuations. These models allow to efficiently study polymer melts with an experimentally relevant invariant degree of polymerizationby compu...
