South side of Bartlett Cover, Cooper Station 55, dug out of glacial clay at half-tide, note barnacles. Tree was pushed over by advancing ice of Little Ice Age less than 500 years ago. Hemlock stump out 18 August 1950. Land has been depressed at least 20 feet since tree grew and is now rising.
