The Jewish Home for the Aged was established in St. Paul in 1908 as a care facility for the elderly poor. The building in the picture was the second home, opening in 1923. It provided room and care for indigent Jewish elders from throughout the state.

The cloth is folded into quarters and four layers are tied at the same time for the design. Pictured in this entry is the cloth that when opened came from top and bottom of the four layers. If stretched the design would be uniform but in this "semi-opened" state one does not see the design on what was the bottom layer.
